It is precisely today, in the apex of the new bloodshed, that we need to think back to the past, and May 9 is one of those dates that serve as foundations of true civilization values, President Stevo Pendarovski said in his message honoring Victory in Europe Day. He added that this day commemorates the millions of lives lost in the fight against the occupier, a day when "we are proud to remember that we have always been on the right side of history." “Victory in Europe Day, which celebrates the idea of permanent peace and unity on the continent, is yet another reminder of the key value of the road to European unification of differences. Only through dignity and respecting the right to self-declaration can we talk about a united Europe. A triumph over fascism is a triumph for Europe itself,” the President wrote in his message. dk/ba/
