Skopje, 5 September 2023 (MIA) - In defining the agenda for its 125th session, the Parliament adopted proposals to review the final report on the 2021 audit of the Skopje-based Oncology Clinic and set up an inquiry committee to look into the Oncology Clinic case.

VMRO-DPMNE MP Mile Lefkov, who proposed a review of the report, said the Government carries direct responsibility for the failure to act on the audit report that had established irregularities.

"In order to determine responsibility towards citizens, and the Parliament to exercise its supervisory function, to launch a transparent and public procedure to uncover the truth behind hideous developments at the Oncology Clinic, we suggest an urgent addition of an item to the agenda over reviewing the final report on the 2021 audit of the Oncology Clinic," said Lefkov.

VMRO-DPMNE MP Antonio Miloshoski proposed setting up an inquiry committee in connection with developments at the Oncology Clinic, in line with the Parliament's Rules of Procedure allowing for the establishment of inquiry committees into issues of public interest. 

According to him, there's no bigger issue of public interest over the past few days than who carries political responsibility for the developments at the Oncology Clinic.   

Earlier at the session, MPs discussed the need to adopt several laws in a fast-track procedure.

The opposition party demanded that some of the laws not be put on the session's agenda, but their demands were not accepted.

Following a two-hour-long discussion, the agenda was not adopted, and Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi adjourned the session for 3:15 pm. ssh/nn/
