Parliament Speaker Xhaferi takes part in Reflection 2030 debate

Skopje, 21 July 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi participated in a debate on a foreign policy strategy of North Macedonia – Reflection 2030, highlighting the importance and significance of the parliamentary dimension and the Parliament’s key role in preparing the strategy.
Xhaferi elaborated on the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in contributing to boosting the overall foreign policy, the Parliament’s strategic priorities at an international level and the key segments of the foreign policy with proactive engagement of the parliamentary committees, delegations and cooperation groups, his office said in a press release.
“At the same time, the Speaker reviewed the contribution that the Parliament, as a legitimate and credible body of representative democracy, can make in creating a sound and comprehensive foreign policy strategy of the country,” reads the press release.
North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani opened the debate, presenting the three pillars on which foreign policy in the next 10 years will be built through inclusion of all political, expert and social factors in the country. These are: discussions with the citizens, thematic conferences with the participation of experts and social and political stakeholders, and Strategic Council’s activities.
Heads of parliamentary delegations in international parliamentary assemblies also attended the debate.
