No public transport in Skopje on Thursday, say union representatives
Skopje, 19 October 2022 (MIA) – There will be no public transport in Skopje on Thursday, said union representatives after an emergency session of the Skopje City Council over the issue. “The public transport enterprise (JSP) representative unions attended the session and we expected a swift response to the initiatives of political parties that certain funds would be transferred to the JSP account so that employees’ salaries are paid. We were naïve in thinking this would happen,” JSP union president Mikjo Stojanovski told MIA. On Thursday, the public enterprise employees will remain in the bus yards and the vehicles will not operate on their routes. “We apologize to the citizens but this had to happen so that we solve the JSP salary issue once and for all times,” said Stojanovski. During the Council session, members from VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM blamed each other for the situation but failed to reach any decision.
