New government possible in ten days’ time, says Milevski
Skopje, 3 November 2021 (MIA) – A defined proposal for the next prime minister-designate is expected by the middle of next week and I believe a new government might be formed in ten days’ time, LDP leader Goran Milevski said Wednesday.
According to him, government coalition partners have been having “intensive talks.”
Asked about the razor-thin parliamentary majority during an appearance on Sitel TV, Milevski said the majority will grow.
“It will be revealed in the coming days,” said Milevski, who is the local self-government minister.
“The party Alternativa is expected to respond. Once it responds, the majority might be enlarged – another four MPs meaning the majority will be comprised of 66 MPs. If it doesn’t respond, the majority will remain the same and will continue to function as such,” Milevski told Sitel TV.
Commenting on PM Zoran Zaev’s announced resignation, he said that Zaev will tender his resignation as soon as possible adding that representatives of the junior coalition partners have met with the premier earlier today.
“If the government keeps pursuing the policies, it’s irrelevant who will be prime minister. What is important is to keep the promises, NATO accession and opening of EU negotiations. I believe it could happen by the end of the year, which will be a huge step forward for the country,” Milevski said.
He stressed that a new government will be formed. “We’re not talking about reshuffle, all the ministers are outgoing.”
