Multinational exercise "Immediate Response 23" ends at Krivolak army field

Multinational exercise

Skopje, 29 May 2023 (MIA) - Multinational exercise "Immediate Response 23", the largest drill held in North Macedonia this year and one that demonstrated NATO's unity, ended at Krivolak army field on Monday.

The exercise involved four NATO armies - North Macedonia, United States, Albania and Montenegro - and one Alliance partner - Kosovo.

"We jointly demonstrated our values and potentials, which is in the core of NATO. North Macedonia is no longer only an object on the geopolitical scene but a stakeholder that is actively taking part in the decision-making process on the same table with global super-powers," said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski.

This is, he added, the best answer for those who opposed the NATO accession three years ago.

"Maintenance of peace and stability in the Western Balkans is one of North Macedonia's top priorities. The Frontex agreement and the NATO membership have protected our identity traits - the language and the culture. Our culture is stronger and more stable than ever, both in political and economic terms," said Kovachevski.

Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska said fast changes require swift and decisive response, together with all allies.

"No country, no army can be in top shape unless united with others. NATO's unity is its strength. We are prepared to respond to the threats regardless of their origin together with the progressive forces across the globe and our strategic partner the United States," noted Petrovska.

According to her, the benefits of NATO are there for the citizens and their feeling of belonging, security and safety.

"Solidarity is the key to success and progress, especially in difficult times. Strength in diversity in every sense. Each success is a common success," said Petrovska.
