Skopje, 4 October 2023 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE MP Rashela Mizrahi, who was appointed chair of the inquiry committee into the Oncology Clinic case, said the first session of the inquiry committee has been scheduled for Thursday.

Mizrahi noted that as chair of the inquiry commitee, she pledges to apply all knowledge, skills and effort, together with the rest of the committee members, as well as journalist, in order to bring the truth to light. 

"A decision was made yesterday on the appointment of members and deputy members of the committee, and earlier today, the Secretary General officially appointed parliamentary assistants and officials who will be part of the inquiry committee, thus all conditions are met for the committee to start its work," Mizrahi told reporters on Wednesday.  

She added that in line with the decision, the committee's responsibility will be to pinpoint the chronology of events and circumstances at the Oncology Clinic, whether the scandal threatens the basic human rights of the patients who were treated there, establish political responsibility, as well as draft conclusions and recommendations aimed at launching a procedure to determine the responsibility of holders of public office and prevent further abuse, as well as systemic improvements of shortcomings at the clinic and the entire health system.

In response to a reporter's question on whether other types of responsibility will also be sought by the inquiry committee if political responsibility is established, and whether current and former heads of the Oncology Clinic as well as other officials will be involved in the inquiry committee's work, Mizrahi said that all relevant institutions and officials will certainly be summoned if the committee decides it is necessary.
