Ministry of Culture staff hold protest over pay rise

Skopje, 4 April 2023 (MIA) - Employees of the Ministry of Culture, the Cultural Heritage Protection Office and the Film Agency gathered on Tuesday again in front of the government to protest over pay. They were joined by administrative staff from other government ministries as well.
Close to 70% of the employees of the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Heritage Protection Office earn below the average salary, while employees doing equal work in other cultural institutions in the country were paid 10,000 denars more, they said at the protest.
Employees in three state institutions demand the signing of a collective agreement and pay raise following the example of the Ministry of Finance.
Ministry of Culture union leader Branko Kostovski reminded that the employees have been rallying for ten days in front of the Ministry of Finance and the Government.
Trpe Deanoski, president of the Union of Workers from Administration, Judicial Bodies and Citizens' Associations said that the protest is joined by the employees of the State Statistical Office, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy as well as the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
