Skopje, 26 November 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski addressed the opening of the Global Cyber Conference in Zurich, Switzerland, on Tuesday, which saw the attendance of representatives of more than 40 countries, industry experts, as well as representatives of the non-governmental sector.
Minister Andonovski stressed the necessity of creating a safe, secure and resilient digital environment, which is at the heart of digital transformation, also presenting the country's priorities in this area, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a press release.
"Cybersecurity is not a competition, but collective defence. Interconnectedness in the cyberspace requires cooperation based on trust," Andonovski noted.
He also presented the draft 2024-2028 National Cybersecurity Strategy, highlighting its proactive approach.
"The Republic of Macedonia's approach, regarding cybersecurity, is completely proactive. Our 2024-2028 National Cybersecurity Strategy is based on five core principles that reflect our commitment to digital transformation. Digital transformation cannot just be about embracing new technologies or keeping up with trends, but it is about creating systems that are intelligent, adaptable and secure by design," the Minister stressed.
Looking to the future, he pointed to the necessity of joint steps towards building a sustainable digital ecosystem.
"Cooperation in the cyberspace offers significant opportunities. But, these opportunities will be realized only if we act decisively and immediately. Priority must be given to cybersecurity education and skills, as well as to international partnerships in order to create a digital ecosystem that will be prepared for the future," said Andonovski.
As part of the Summit, which brings together more than 400 participants, the Minister held several bilateral meetings with counterparts and representatives of leading companies and countries in the cyberspace. ssh/nn/
