Mickoski hopes Prosecutor's Office will summon anyone who has information on Grubi's whereabouts

Skopje, 30 December 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski hopes that the Prosecutor's Office will summon DUI leader Ali Ahmeti after Kosovo media reported on Sunday that Ahmeti has said the former deputy prime minister Artan Grubi is on Albanian territory and will return to the country only if there is no retributive and selective justice.

"I hope this reaches the Prosecutor's Office and I hope there is a legal procedure whereby a person who knows where a fugitive is located will be summoned to give answers. Regarding everything else, I can comment that everyone in the country knows how prosecutors and judges were appointed in the past seven years. The same people without whom the qualification through the Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors could not pass, now say that justice has been denied to someone and that this was political persecution. Let me remind you - the fugitive in question is on the US sanctions list, where they publicly say that this person, together with one other person, is connected to major corruption scandals. I guess they won't be accusing the State Department of political persecution too," Mickoski said on Monday.

According to the PM, the easiest way for someone to prove whether they are guilty or not is to return to the country, give a statement and face justice.

"There is nothing wrong with saying whether you are right or wrong, and leave it for the prosecutors and judges to decide what to do next. We do not interfere, let them decide based on the evidence they get from the investigation," said Mickoski.

The Public Prosecutor's Office said Monday a national and international warrant has been issued for Grubi, adding that domestic and international authorities in charge of executing those orders have the authority to take all necessary measures, including summoning other persons if they have information on the whereabouts of the suspect.
