Gov't takes organized approach and will continue to help families of victims in Kochani fire, says Mickoski

Zhelino, 22 May 2025 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said he has met with most of the parents of the victims killed in the March 16 fire in the nightclub Pulse in Kochani, adding that he will continue to meet and talk with them, and help the families of the injured.

"We are absolutely taking an organized approach. I met with most of the parents, and I will continue to meet, to talk, and ensure help for both those injured and those who unfortunately lost their loved ones," PM Mickoski said in response to a reporter's question in the Municipality of Zhelino on Thursday on whether the situation is being monitored and whether help is provided to the families of the victims and the injured in the Kochani fire.

Mickoski also called on the Prosecutor's Office to reexamine all cases 'covered up' in the past, including the cases on the modular hospital in Tetovo, the Laskarci and Besa Trans cases, and including, as he said, the last one in Kochani. This is part of the message of PM Mickoski, who was answering a reporter's question over responsibility for the fire in the modular hospital in Tetovo and over support for the families who have lost their loved ones.

"Everyone who has even the slightest fault, including me, should be held accountable, regardless of which political party they come from," said Mickoski.

The PM said the families who have lost their loved ones in the modular hospital fire in Tetovo absolutely have his support, pointing out that the investigation into this case is not being led by the Government, but by the Prosecutor's Office.

"The verdict is delivered by the courts. We have said many times in the past that they have neither credibility nor legitimacy, because you know where the judges and the prosecutors gathered in the past, in the headquarters of SDSM and the Democratic Union for Integration, and it is logical to expect the kind of verdicts those judges, those prosecutors, would deliver," Mickoski said, noting that a full system reset is necessary.

"For a complete reset to occur, we want to respect the laws and the Constitution. We do not want to work in a savage manner, as some did in the past. As long as I am Prime Minister, I absolutely guarantee justice for everyone, there are no first- and second-class citizens. We are all equal before the Constitution and the laws and that is how we will continue to function," said Mickoski.
