Skopje, 22 May 2025 (MIA) - The investigation into the tragic event in Kochani should conclude in around ten days, Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski told journalists Thursday.
After the end of the investigation, the defense will be able to inspect the evidence, while the indictment is expected to be ready in mid-June.
“Both yesterday and at this moment we are questioning witnesses, suspects, we are collecting evidence. We have questioned many witnesses so far, maybe over 300. I hope that the public prosecutors will complete the procedure within the deadlines,” Kocevski said.
The Chief Prosecutor said the investigation could be expanded if prosecutors uncover new elements in the case.
Sixty-eight people and three legal entities are suspects in the investigation into the March 16 fire at the “Pulse” nightclub in Kochani which took the lives of 62 people.
The fire was caused by sparks from pyrotechnics during a concert. The nightclub was found to be operating without a valid license and in violation of several safety standards.
