Skopje, 21 July 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Health, Fatmir Mexhiti, has heard the demands of people with diabetes at a meeting on Friday. Mexhiti expressed full understanding of their demands and the challenges they face, the Ministry of Health said in a press release. 

"As the Minister said at the meeting this morning, we are taking all measures to meet the demands of people with diabetes. Providing quality health care is a priority for them, and the Ministry will always be their partner," reads the press release.

On Friday, one of their key demands was realized. The decision to select the most favorable bidder for the purchase of diabetic tape patches is signed.

"All procedures within the Ministry of Health have been completed in the shortest possible time. I really regret that the procurement was delayed, it should have been started in December by the previous management," Mexhiti at Friday's meeting with the representatives of the Union of Associations of persons with diabetes of the Republic of North Macedonia, which was held before the announced protest.

The Minister also noted that the Health Ministry is working on a system solution that will not allow delays in purchases in the future, the press release adds.
