Local elections in Skopje: Arsovska wins 37.28%, Shilegov – 34.96%
Skopje, 18 October 2021 (MIA) – The VMRO-DPMNE-supported independent candidate running for mayor of the capital Skopje, Danela Arsovska has won 37.28% of votes in Sunday’s local election with Petre Shilegov, the incumbent Skopje mayor who is seeking re-election after being nominated by SDSM, trailing behind with 34.96% of votes.
The results have been posted on the State Election Commission (SEC) website after 82 percent of votes for mayoral elections in Skopje have been processed.
They are followed by Pero Georgievski (Levica) – 8.58%, Arben Shaqiri (LDP/DOM) – 4.04%, Ana Petrovska (Green Humane City) – 3.91%, and Aleksandar Tortevski (Tvoja Partija) – 1.07%.
Voter turnout is 48.77%.
VMRO-DPMNE has won the most votes in the Council of the City of Skopje (33.91%), followed by SDSM (22.39%), DUI (13.17%), Levica (8.38%), Alliance for Albanians/Alternativa (5.63%), LDP/DOM (3.85%), Green Humane City (3.58%), BESA (1.13%) and the rest have less than one percent.
