Kovachevski-Dušek: Cooperation with World Economic Forum of key importance to North Macedonia’s economic perspectives

Skopje, 18 September 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met with the World Economic Forum Managing Director Mirek Dušek on Monday in New York.
The meeting was focused on economic perspectives of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Western Balkan region in light of political and security challenges in Europe, as well as the importance for cooperation of our country with the World Economic Forum. Through the active cooperation with over 800 leading world companies, the World Economic Forum can significantly contribute to attracting investors to the countries of the Western Balkans, the government said in a press release.
PM Kovachevski noted that the cooperation with the World Economic Forum is of key importance for the Republic of North Macedonia, in conditions where the state is directed towards an accelerated European integration process, which is expected to improve the quality of life of Macedonian citizens and economic development.
“In the path to the European integration goal, which we consider achievable by 2030, our country needs innovation and a boost to the competitiveness of companies and investments and motivation of human capital. Experiences and knowledge exchange at the meetings of the Forum are valuable, on important issues as business solutions for sustainable development, especially in food production, finding solutions on energy potentials, climate change, health conditions, global competition, information technology, the fight against corruption,” Kovachevski said.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Republic of North Macedonia is making progress in the rankings according to economic performance and that it is necessary to maintain the focus in this direction, for which further strengthened cooperation with the World Economic Forum was announced.
