Mickoski: Gathering not only as representatives of different nations and countries, but holders of shared ideals
- The fatherland has been and shall continue to be the living tissue composed of history, tradition and common endeavour. Fatherland is not something that can be changed, abandoned or sold. Fatherland is something that is defended and built. Macedonia, although small, has never given up its identity. Today, when some are trying to redefine family, we are trying to protect that nucleus and value. The family is our foundation, our fatherlands are our foundation. I believe that this is the path that we need to walk, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said in Budapest.

Skopje, 30 May 2025 (MIA) - The fatherland has been and shall continue to be the living tissue composed of history, tradition and common endeavour.
Addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday, he noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is one of the leaders who are promoting the values in Europe, and he should be supported and commended for this active role.
"Let us not forget our friends who are protecting these values. Our friend, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is one of the leaders who are promoting the values in Europe, and he should be supported and commended for this active role. This is policy of strong foundations, and policy in which the word is truly a word, solid as rock. And I thank him for that. Even the winds of change started by President Trump's administration is policy of growth and restoration of hope," Mickoski said.
According to him, patriotism is not a retro idea, it is the only way towards a prosperous future.
"Living in times when false narratives try to wipe or relativize our national identities, we are here to confirm the opposite. Patriotism is not a retro idea, it is the only way towards a prosperous future. First issue and foremost - God," said Mickoski.
He added that in times when Christian values are attacked "we will never give up the spiritual heritage of the apostles."
"In times when the Christian values are attacked, ridiculed and excluded from public disclosure, we are more than sure: we will never give up the spiritual heritage of the apostles, the Holy Brothers Ss. Cyril and Methodius, who from Macedonia brought literacy and Christianity among the Slavic people. Second issue - fatherland. Our native land is not just a geographical term," Mickoski said.
He underlined that "throughout our long history we learned that freedom is paid with victims."
"Today, in the spirit of cooperation, we deeply appreciate the support provided by our strategic partners, such as Hungary - whose deed inspires us to even more represent the values we believe in. Last issue, but not less important - family. The holiest institution created by God. Today, when some are trying to redefine family, we are trying to protect that nucleus and value. The family is our foundation, our fatherlands are our foundation. Because we know very well that each nation is as strong as its families are," Mickoski added.
In his address, he called for reinforcing spiritual resilience, defending sovereignty, protecting traditional family.
