Verdi's 'Aida' to close May Opera Evenings festival

Skopje, 31 May 2025 (MIA) - The 53rd May Opera Evenings, as is tradition, will close Saturday evening with Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida". According to the National Opera and Ballet, a fusion of tradition and visual innovation, translated through futuristic virtual scenography, will take the audience on a journey across Ancient Egypt, telling a story of love.  

The "Aida" opera performance will be conducted by Italian conductor Gianna Fratta. Produced by Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Italy, the opera performance has been adapted for the stage of the National Opera and Ballet by Dejan Proshev. The choreographer is Luisa Baldinetti (Italy), Verica Lambevska is the concertmaster, and Gjurgjica Dashikj is the choir-master. 

Daria Masiero (Italy) will perform the title role. The cast also includes James Lee (South Korea), Nensi Fabiola Herera (Spain), Igor Durlovski, Vladimir Sazdovski, Marjan Jovanoski, Aleksandra Lazarevska Vasilevski and Nikola Stojchevski, with ballet soloist Ilijana Danilov and the choir, orchestra and male ballet ensemble of the National Opera and Ballet.
