Kovachevski: North Macedonia is on the right side of history, as it has always been
Skopje, 16 November 2022 (MIA) – I see North Macedonia on the right side of history, as it has always been, which is why since the first day of this unjust war, we have positioned ourselves on the side of democracy, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Wednesday at the joint press conference with the French Secretary of State for European affairs, Laurence Boone. Asked by a journalist on where he sees the country in the “third world order”, Kovachevski said he sees North Macedonia as a full-fledged member of the European Union, set to develop an economic, political, democratic and social system, equal to those of all the other EU member states. “Finally the Macedonian citizens and the future generations will be able to live in an EU member state, but here in their own country and not abroad. My vision and the vision of the government is very clear. North Macedonia will be an EU member with a protected Macedonian language, protected identity, history and culture. North Macedonia is a country that was founded on the struggle of 1903 and the National Liberation War of 1941, and a country founded on the free referendum decision made by the citizens in 1991,” said Kovachevski. Regarding the events in Poland and the positions of the government, Kovachevski said that currently a NATO meeting is underway in Brussels, which is being attended by the Macedonian ambassador as well, and more information on the issue will be shared after the meetings and consultations. “I expressed my condolences to the Polish prime minister yesterday over what happened. Further positions will be shared after the meetings in Brussels,” said Kovachevski. ad/ba/
