Kovachevski – Peach: North Macedonia contributes to regional, European stability
Skopje, 27 October 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski alongside Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska met with Sir Stuart Peach, the UK Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, who was accompanied by British Ambassador to the country Matthew Lawson.   Talks focused on current issues in regional and global context, towards stability and peace in Europe and the world, the Government said in a press release.   “Participants in the meeting welcomed the decisions of the Government that enabled start of negotiations and progress in the European integration process as a strategic goal of North Macedonia, and of importance for the stability and security of both the region and the European Union. Interlocutors stressed the need for focus of all political entities in the country on policies of solutions, instead of policies of blockades and producing misunderstandings, particularly given the current global security and political context,” reads the press release.   In addition, interlocutors said the positioning of North Macedonia’s foreign policy, in line with the policies of the countries of Europe, in relation to the situation in Ukraine and the contribution of our country, through the policies of friendship and dialogue, to the regional stability, was significant.   “Participants in the meeting extended congratulations on the Frontex agreement signed in Skopje on Wednesday, in Macedonian language, thus reaffirming the recognition and respect for the Macedonian language and Macedonian identity by the European Union,” the press release adds.    Kovacevski extended gratitude for all the support from the United Kingdom, which is extremely important in the democratic, integration, reform and all other processes, and important for the citizens of the country.   The United Kingdom, the press release notes, is a great strategic partner and friend of North Macedonia, and cooperation continues to be promoted in that direction.   Talks also tackled challenges energy, as an effect of the war in Ukraine, discussing possible sustainable solutions in this area, both in the country and in Europe.
