Kovachevski – Michel: Strong support in fulfillment of strategic goal – full-fledged EU membership
Skopje, 5 July 2022 (MIA) – The European proposal on start of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations takes into account all Macedonian positions and remarks, and negotiations can begin immediately after its approval. The proposal includes clear Macedonian language, equal with the other EU languages, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and European Council President of Charles Michel at a meeting on Tuesday. European Council President Michel once again highlighted the EU’s support and commitment to opening negotiations with North Macedonia, pointing out that these are key moments for the country’s progress from an economic, political and social aspect, the Government said in a press release. PM Kovachevski stressed that the EU’s support for North Macedonia’s integration process is of particular importance for the country in the fulfillment of its core strategic goal – full-fledged EU membership. In addition, PM Kovachevski noted that over the past few days the French proposal was discussed at consultative meetings with leaders from the government coalition, diplomatic corps, civil society sector, experts and the media, as well as opposition parties. As part of his visit, European Council President Michel will attend Tuesday’s government session, followed by a joint press-conference with PM Kovachevski. ad/nn/
