Skopje, 25 January 2024 (MIA) – North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia, signed Thursday an agreement to finance and re-establish a joint permanent exhibit in Block 17 of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in the Republic of Poland.
In a press release, the Culture Ministry said Minister Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska was unable to attend the ceremony at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, her address was conveyed by the Chargé d'Affaires of North Macedonia’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, Refet Hajdari.
“This agreement is a manifesto of strong regional cooperation based on trust and understanding, and one more recognition that dialogue is the most homogenous medium that leads to solutions which continue the messages over respect for universalism and humanism,” said Minister Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.
The Culture Minister said the Macedonian Government remains committed to the preservation of history, maintaining the memory of the Holocaust as “a bridge between the past and the future, affirming the meaning of peace and tolerance”.
“The re-establishment of the joint exhibit is our debt and obligation to the past, in respect and memory of the Holocaust, so that it is never forgotten and never repeated,” said the Minister of Culture in her address.
