Skopje, 21 September 2022 (MIA) – Migration, fight against the organized crime and corruption, the appointment, dismissal, evaluation of judges and public prosecutors, were the topics discussed between North Macedonia’s Justice Minister Nikola Tupancheski and his Slovenian colleague Dominika Švarc Pipan on Wednesday in Ljubljana. Tupancheski, who is paying a two-day visit to Slovenia, said that they jointly concluded that the conditions are good, but that there is room and opportunity for their improvement. “We had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas, which above all will be particularly useful and relevant for the Republic of North Macedonia and its EU approximation process,” Tupancheski said. He said that during the talks they shared ideas and experiences related to the selection and appointment of judges and public prosecutors both in Slovenia and North Macedonia. “We reached some common conclusions that would mean that there is an additional opportunity to improve the situation in Slovenia as well, but especially in the Republic of North Macedonia, where we really have a process, a challenge, which means a step towards establishing new standards that mean moving toward to the EU,” Tupancheski said. Tupancheski voiced hope that this cooperation with the Slovenian Ministry of Justice will deepen in the future. While in Ljubljana, Tupacheski is to meet with Damijan Florjančič, President of the Supreme Court of Slovenia, Bojan Majcen, head of the Prison Administration and Danijela Mrhar Prelić, Director General of the Probation Administration, Justice Ministry said in a press release.
