Skopje, 14 September 2022 (MIA) – The average inflation in period January-August amounts to 11.6 percent, mainly as a result of outside factors on the supply side, the National Bank said on Wednesday. “The rise of import prices of food and energy, including the domestic price of electricity and heating, contribute the most to the inflation rise, resulting from the developments on the global energy markets. However, their extended and higher rise creases transferrable effects on the prices of other products and services, and further fuels inflation expectations, which points to the need for precautious domestic policies. In recent months there have been downward adjustments on the global food market, which might lead to similar trends in domestic prices. Nevertheless, uncertainty of the future dynamics of prices of primary products at stock markets, and especially of energy resources, has been highlighted due to the military conflict in Ukraine,” the central bank said in a press release.
