Skopje, 24 January 2024 (MIA) - Italian company "Leonardo" has been selected as the most favorable bidder for the procurement of new Army helicopters, and a commission will be set up to resume negotiations, said Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska on Wednesday.

"Over a period of almost three years, a project team within the Ministry of Defense researched the market and collected bids from various manufacturers. At the team's proposal, and based on a broad consultation process with the Army General Staff and army experts, a decision has been made to accept the bid of Italian company 'Leonardo'", said Minister Petrovska at the sidelines of conference "A Year of European Opportunities".

If negotiations prove to be successful, an agreement will be signed and the helicopters will be delivered within two years.
