Health Minister Demiri holds first official meeting with WHO official Johansen
- Health Minister in the caretaker Government, Ilir Demiri, held his first official meeting with Anne Johansen, WHO Special Representative to North Macedonia and Head of the WHO Country Office in Skopje.
Skopje, 20 February 2024 (MIA) – Health Minister in the caretaker Government, Ilir Demiri, held his first official meeting with Anne Johansen, WHO Special Representative to North Macedonia and Head of the WHO Country Office in Skopje.
As outlined in today’s press release by the Ministry of Health, Demiri and Johansen discussed the shared priorities in the field of health and the activities that will be implemented within the framework of the two-year cooperation agreement between the WHO and the Health Ministry, for the period 2024 - 2025.
“The importance of ongoing collaborative efforts to ensure universal healthcare coverage for the population and to improve patient access to healthcare services was underscored during the meeting. This includes enhancing the functionality of healthcare institutions, continuing reforms in primary healthcare, strengthening activities for non-communicable disease prevention, and expediting the adoption of national plans and legislative regulations supported by the WHO,” reads the press release.
Minister Demiri expressed his gratitude for the continuous support extended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to the Ministry of Health and expressed readiness to continue the further successful collaboration.
