Skopje, 26 August 2021 (MIA) – It’s irresponsible to test people’s immunity to a risky diseases when we already have an efficient vaccine for it. We can’t allow facing new waves and variants unvaccinated, Minister of Health Venko Filipche wrote Thursday afternoon on Facebook. He stressed that postponing COVID-19 vaccination only postpones the issue. “Vaccines will help us defeat the pandemic, not recovering from the virus. It’s irresponsible to test people’s immunity to a risky diseases when we already have an efficient vaccine for it. We can’t allow facing new waves and variants unvaccinated. This will only put pressure on the health system, as currently 90% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated,” read his post. The Minister also noted that getting vaccinated a month after recovering from the infection is safe. “Humanity defeated past pandemics thanks to mass vaccination. Vaccinating children and adults has exterminated a number of diseases. They are administered in line with the regular vaccination plan. Citizens should rest assured, getting vaccinated a month after recovering from the infection is safe,” Filipche wrote. He also expressed assurance that measures have been effective, contributing to rapid vaccination and curbing the spread of the virus. “I’m asking for support in fighting for greater immunization,” read the Minister’s post.
