Grubi: Polls show convincing win of European front at May 8 elections

Skopje, 12 January 2024 (MIA) - Polls show that the European front comprised of SDSM, DUI, Alliance for Albanians and other political parties will convincingly win the May 8 elections, says First Deputy PM Artan Grubi.

Grubi told TV24 all options are open for the parliamentary and presidential elections when it comes to DUI's showing at the elections, saying there are talks between party leader Ali Ahmeti and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski.

He adds that a joint front SDSM-DUI-AA is a possibility, as well as DUI-AA and parties of Arijanit Hoxha and Skender Rexhepi, but also on its own.

The First Deputy PM says DUI has its red lines and will not enter into coalition with a party that is not supportive of "a European Macedonia, the Prespa Agreement, the Bulgaria Treaty, the Ohrid Framework Agreement and the recognition of Kosovo".

"I believe it is difficult to find a party of ethnic Albanians who will serve the Russian scenario in Macedonia," notes Grubi.

He says DUI has no reservations over incumbent President Stevo Pendarovski but his nomination as a consensual candidate does not depend only on DUI but of SDSM, AA and other political parties as well.

According to him, DUI is not concerned from the support of the Self-Determination party of Kosovo PM Albin Kurti for the opposition parties of ethnic Albanians, saying it has already supported candidates at the previous presidential and parliamentary elections.
