Grkovska: Good governance principles important for fair, democratic and prosperous society
Skopje, 15 September 2022 (MIA) – The principles of good governance are important not only for the Union accession process but primarily in creating a fair, democratic and prosperous society. This is key for economic growth, competitiveness, better quality of life and favorable business environment, Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska told a Ministerial Conference of the Western Balkans for public administration reforms, organized by SIGMA/OECD and the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA) in Skopje on Thursday.
Deputy PM Grkovska said the Government has a serious and responsible approach to its commitment of building accountable and transparent institutions resting on three pillars – digital transformation, transparency and efficiency, and anti-corruption policies.
“Good governance incorporates comprehensive changes, primarily in the way of thinking and operating. I use every opportunity to highlight this. I often tell young people, ‘be the change you want to see in the world,’” said Grkovska.
The conference, which brought together ministers from the Western Balkans, European Commission officials, donors, regional and international organizations, civil society organizations and experts, included exchange of experiences and opinions on good practices regarding transformation of the public administration, as well as reforms that are crucial for the improvement of the people’s quality of life.
