Skopje, 28 November 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski announced that at a session on Tuesday the Government adopted part of the law necessary to align with the general collective agreement for the public sector in order to facilitate payments, while the other three will be discussed at the next session.

"Today, part of the law was adopted and will be submitted to Parliament, while at the following session the Government will harmonize the other three before they are submitted to Parliament in order to allow institutions, especially those working in the finance and accounting sectors, to pay wages in a timely and simple manner in line with the general collective agreement and wages," Kovachevski said after promoting the new set of anti-crisis measures.

He reminded that the increase of public sector wages, in accordance with the general collective agreement, is regulated by 10 percent, and the money has already been paid. The public sector will also receive an annual leave allowance of Mden 10.000.

"Starting next year, our plan is to increase the annual leave allowance by 30 percent of the average salary, which means that it will be over Mden 10.000," Kovachevski added.

Regarding the minimum wage, he noted that, it has already been adjusted in accordance with the law, which will then align with all other wages, while in terms of the General Collective Agreement increases follow as they apply.

In response to the question if the Economic Chambers supports the new anti-crisis measures, Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi said that the Government has been in continuous communication.

"It has been communicated several times that the package is designed in line with previous cooperation with economic chambers, in terms of whether they are for energy efficiency, digitalization, investment, liquidation, which means that those measures for the economy have already been reiterated in several meetings," Besimi stressed. ssh/sk/
