Government decides to restrict trade margins of basic food products by year-end
Skopje, 20 September 2022 (MIA) – The Government decided Tuesday to extend the period of the measure to restrict trade margins of basic food products by 31 December 2022. Considering that the decision limits the price hikes by determining the amount of the trade margin that impacts the retail prices of basic food products, whereas the situation on the market shows that prices have not stabilized, there is a need to extend the period for three months, i.e. up to 31 December 2022. Therefore, the possible price hikes in wholesale and retail will be caused by the rise of import and stock market prices, as well as production costs, said the Ministry of Economy. According to the decision, the trade margin of bread, sugar and sunflower oil is limited to five percent, whereas the one for eggs, flour, pasta, rice and milk to ten percent.
