Gov't simplifies procedures for installation of rooftop photovoltaic power stations
Skopje, 30 August 2022 (MIA) - The government has simplified procedures for the installation of photovoltaic power systems on the rooftops of residential and commercial buildings after at a session Wednesday passing changes to the law on construction. Under the changes, 6-kilowatt photovoltaic power stations can be mounted on facilities in individual ownership and 40-kilowatt stations on commercial buildings. The law's amendments in the coming days will be sent to Parliament, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said expressing hopes that they will be adopted by MPs at the first session because "they are in the interest of the citizens and businesses." "What's key in the changes is that the citizens and the companies won't need a permit from the municipality to install solar power systems, which was the case until recently," he told a news conference Tuesday adding potential investors will only have to notify the municipalities. He said he expects the law's amendments to accelerate the procedures and rooftop photovoltaic solar systems to be put into use soon. "Since small power producing stations are involved, which are crucial for household and companies, we believe the amendment is vital because it eliminates administrative barriers, mainly in the municipalities. The investors, i.e. the citizens now have the obligation to collect the necessary documentation. Red tape will no longer be a barrier preventing the citizens from installing rooftop photovoltaic solar power stations quickly," Minister Bochavrski said.
