Skopje, 20 May 2025 (MIA) - The minimal consumer basket in May stands at 63,908 (EUR 1,308), an increase of Mden 1,217 (EUR 20) compared to April, said the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) on Tuesday.

The cost of food and beverages in the minimal consumer basket in May stands at Mden 22,434 (EUR 364) and is up by Mden 954 (EUR 15) compared to April.

“It is evident that without measures, prices are uncontrollably rising, while the challenge with the high prices of food products especially exerts immense pressure on the low wages of the workers in Macedonia. Amid increased living costs, the increased value of the minimal consumer basket, especially after the end of the Government’s measures, points to the need for higher wages,” SSM said.
