Skopje, 14 September 2023 (MIA) – The European Commission expressed great concern that some amendments in the legislation had a risk of increasing impunity, said the EU Ambassador to North Macedonia, David Geer, in answer to a journalist’s question on Thursday regarding the amendments to the Criminal Code.
“I think this question has already been answered by Brussels,” said Geer, adding that the European Commission made a couple of points a couple of days ago.
Geer stressed that the Commission expressed concern once more at the use of the European flag in this way, to accelerate passage of the legislation.
“It recalled the key importance of the rule of law and the need to ensure that impunity, that criminal acts, are addressed in an appropriate way,” said Geer.
