France's Boone: 2030 is ambitious and also viable goal for EU full-fledged membership
Skopje, 16 November 2022 (MIA) - The year 2030 is ambitious and also viable because we saw North Macedonia making a lot of progress aligning with the European legislation, French Secretary of State for Europe Laurence Boone said in Skopje when asked how long it will take for North Macedonia to join the EU.
Speaking at a joint news conference on Wednesday alongside Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, Boone said the constitutional amendments, part of the European agreement, are as much important as the reforms required to be implemented.
According to her, the enlargement reform conducted favorizes the dynamic between the EU and the country implementing the reforms to have more sense and use than the previous dynamic. "France trusts both the ambition and the ultimate goal of the prime minister and the Macedonian government," Boone stated.
The French diplomat reiterated that her country is helping North Macedonia achieve the goal.
Asked whether France has changed its position, PM Kovachevski said that unlike three years ago when France had had a different view of the enlargement, today it is the country that is at the forefront of the EU enlargement process with the Western Balkan countries.
According to him, France is also very supportive of the screening process in Brussels.
