Skopje, 27 June 2023 (MIA) - Sixteen primary and elementary schools across North Macedonia will be implementing green projects for the preservation and improvement of the environment and biodiversity. The Fund for Innovation and Technology Development (FITD) will be giving out grants from the "Challenge for Young Researchers #5- green projects" public call.
According to FITD, during the selection priority was given to interdisciplinary projects, which aims for an inclusive approach when creating teams, i.e. ensuring equal gender representation, including children from different ethnicities, children with special needs, different ages, etc. and projects coming from schools in rural areas.
"So far through the Challenge for Young Researchers we have supported 139 schools across the country, which includes 900 students and mentors, including the schools that were awarded today. The Fund will continue to support programs and projects that aim to support young and creative minds, which I am sure have enormous potential and will create a better future," said FITD Director Festim Halili.
The total budget for the challenge is Mden 3 million, and Mden 200,000 for individual projects. Teachers who will lead student teams will be awarded Mden 30,000, intended for purchasing digital equipment that will then be used in the teaching process.
