Ethnic or national qualification of fascism is avoided in European textbooks, says Zaev
Skopje, 23 September 2021 (MIA) – Politics shouldn’t interfere in history, it can neither change anything. If we want to build friendship and good relations, we need to act right, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Thursday commenting on the country’s relations with Bulgaria. The monuments will remain as a reminder of fascism, but it’s not fair to declare a whole nation as fascist, Zaev told TV 24 political show. “In European textbooks, ethnic or national qualification of fascism is avoided in the spirit of European manners. While building relationship, my goal is to pay attention to the way we describe things in a bid to build a friendship,” Zaev said when asked about the removal of the adjective “Bulgarian” in the term “fascist occupying force” in history textbooks in the country. Saying Bulgarian fascist occupying force, he said, it affects the whole nation, and it is an unpleasant feeling for the Bulgarian people.
