Skopje, 28 January 2025 (MIA) - After five years of primary school foreign language classes without textbooks, the Ministry of Education and Science has launched a procedure for the procurement of new textbooks with the goal of having them available for the 2025-2026 school year, the Ministry said in a press release Tuesday.
Foreign publishers can apply in the public call through their representatives in the country. The call concerns textbooks for English from first to ninth grade, as well as textbooks for French, German, Italian, and Russian from sixth to ninth grade. The application deadline is March 28, 2025.
“The procurement procedure for all foreign language textbooks will be fully completed before the beginning of the school year. Students will begin the school year on September 1 without worrying whether they will have basic learning aids, while teachers won’t have to independently look for materials and sources of information,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry also said it has published a call for the creation of new textbooks for seventh grade, in line with the new curriculum, for biology, chemistry, physics, geography, civic education and Albanian language as an elective subject, as well as textbooks for the elective subject language and culture of the Turks for all grades from sixth to ninth. The deadline for this public call is March 31, 2025.
All textbooks will continue to be free for the students, said the Ministry.
