Dimitrievski says pressure piling up despite his positive election campaign

Skopje, 11 April 2024 (MIA) – Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, ZNAM Movement presidential candidate Maksim Dimitrievski raised the alarm about pressure from the ruling party, adding that it was aimed at distracting him from full commitment to the election process.

Dimitrievski noted that in less than a month he had faced two charges, and public and state administration employees, as well as low social status citizens have also faced pressure.

“Those are unprincipled methods, attempts at pressure from the aspect of employees in public and state administration. In addition, people from low social strata are getting obscene offers, as has also been the case in the past, and as far as I’m concerned, I will only ask this question - Has it been the case so far in the country to have two charges filed in less than a month against any presidential candidate, to have any presidential candidate summoned twice before a public prosecutor and once before a competent court as he has, while having the next hearing scheduled for the 30th while the campaign is ongoing?! This is pressure piling up on me that is aimed at distracting me from the intention in my fight to change things together with the citizens in our aching Macedonia, and furthermore, aimed at taking my time so that I cannot fully commit to the election process and present my platform,” Dimitrievski told Thursday’s press conference at the ZNAM Movement’s election HQ in Skopje.

He added that despite the pressure, he will continue his positive campaign and investing maximum efforts.

“Despite the pressure, I will continue to invest maximum efforts, to present my platform in its entirety to the citizens. We managed to visit many places and cities in the country, we met people who give huge support to ZNAM and to me as a presidential candidate. Today we will be here in Karposh and Centar, and we will have meetings with the citizens. On that occasion, in addition to the modest promotional material, we will hand out our pre-election program, and I believe that by the end of the campaign we will be able to visit every home and convince citizens that things in Macedonia can be different,” said Dimitrievski.
