COVID-19: 1,913 new cases and 16 deaths in past 24 hours
Skopje, 22 January 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Saturday registered 1,913 COVID-19 infections after 7,219 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, said the Health Ministry adding that also 16 deaths were registered as well as 1,353 recoveries according to Public Health Institute data. Of the new cases, Skopje reported 888. Also, 243 reinfections out of the new confirmed COVID-19 cases were registered. Sixteen people died in the past 24 hours, who were in their 60s and late 80s. They all died in hospital. Also, five people died, aged from 67 to 88, in the period between Jan. 6 and Jan. 19, according to the registry of Covid-related fatalities. They died at home. Of the fatalities registered, ten were fully vaccinated. At the moment, 20,250 cases are active nationwide, including 10,834 in the capital. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,741,085 tests, recording 254,857 COVID-19 cases and 226,409 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,198.
