Skopje, 3 July 2023 (MIA) — EVN Home is to reintroduce the cheaper electricity rate during off-peak afternoon hours as of Dec. 1, and how they do it is up to them and their competence and responsibility, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi told the press on Monday.

In response to a reporter's question on whether only consumers with digital electric meters would get cheaper electricity in December given that the power utility company had reportedly said it was adjusting digital meters but would not begin resetting analog ones until Dec. 1, Bytyqi said all consumers would be able to use cheap electricity at off-peak hours as soon as it was reintroduced.

"The fact that the Energy Regulatory Commission issued its decision on prices as of July 1 until the end of the year — and said the cheap daytime rate would start on Dec. 1 — means the preparations for this should be done by the people whose job this is," Bytyqi said.

"I can help EVN Home if they don't have staff. I will go set the meters myself, if that's the problem," he added. mr/
