Bochvarski: Infrastructure projects being implemented for gas interconnector with Greece

Skopje, 1 June 2022 (MIA) – Infrastructure projects are being implemented for gas interconnector with Greece including urban planning on gas pipeline route, expropriation procedures and procedures by issuing construction permit, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski told Slobodna TV's Morning Briefing show on Wednesday.
He stressed that it is important capital investments to continue, adding that all projects as gas pipelines, highways and expropriation activities are priority for the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
“Gas pipeline to Bitola has been completed, pipeline to Gostivar is also nearing completion, and the one to Greece for which we are requesting additional funds can begin after completing the urban planning,” Bochvarski said.
Minister Bochvarski said that the budget funds for construction of road infrastructure are constantly increasing, and this year, we have the largest budget in the history of the country for construction and reconstruction of the road network. According to him, construction of 118 km of expressways and 80 km of local roads is underway, and 230 km are being renovated.
He reiterated that the deadline for construction of the Kichevo-Ohrid highway, in accordance with the annex to the agreement, is the end of 2023, adding that the activities are moving with the necessary dynamics on the asphalting of the fifth section.
The tender procedure for selection of contractors for reconstruction of the Nogaevci-Negotino railway section on Corridor 10, and the sections Kumanovo-Beljakovce and Beljakovce-Kriva Palanka is in the final phase, which is an investment worth €200 million.
He also added that the Bitola – Kremenica railway project has been completed, which along with the connection through Gevgelija, we would have two railway routes to Greece.
