Alternativa: No information about being replaced in gov't which we were asked to join
Skopje, 10 November 2022 (MIA) – Alternativa has no information about a government reshuffle and the possibility of being replaced in the government by the Alliance for Albanians, party sources told MIA. According to the same sources, no one can decide whether Alternativa leaves the governing coalition or not, except for the party bodies which decided to join the government in the first place. “You are well aware that Alternativa is stabilizing the government and this is well-known by our coalition partners and our international partners. If someone forgot this act by Alternativa, it is certainly not because of sclerosis. We did not join the government because we begged and asked for it, but because we were asked by certain domestic and foreign factors to do so, because of the accession process,” said the party sources. They pointed out that the parliamentary majority is stable and there is no need for it to be strengthened, stressing that their relations with the other government partners are fair and “within the framework of usual collegial relations.” In answer to a journalist’s question on Thursday about articles alleging a “government reshuffle by New Year’s” and replacement of Health Minister Bekim Sali, who is from Alternativa’s ranks, with a member of the Alliance for Albanians, PM Kovachevski said that all articles about a potential government reshuffle are currently only speculations. “I have not seen the articles that you are referring to. Currently, the government is currently supported by 64 MP and this was confirmed by the recent election of the new minister of local self-government. It is the prime minister that proposes government ministers during a reshuffle and as a prime minister I have not discussed this, so all of these reports are currently merely speculation,” said Kovachevski. ad/ba/
