Aliu and Geer sign agreement to associate North Macedonia to Digital Europe Programme

Skopje, 24 July 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Information Society and Administration Azir Aliu and EU Ambassador David Geer signed Monday in Skopje an agreement between the European Union and North Macedonia to associate the country to the Digital Europe Programme.

On June 30, the European Commission signed association agreements for the Digital Europe Programme with Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Serbia, on the margins of the Regulatory Dialogue with the Western Balkans.

Businesses, public administrations and other eligible organisations in these neighbouring countries will be able to access the calls of the Digital Europe Programme, which has an overall budget of €7.5 billion in the 2021-2027 period.

“The agreement marks an important step in the digitalization that our country has started, which will proceed effectively until the full digitalization of the work processes of the administration, respecting the laws, standards and ICT structures, while designing, implementing and promoting digital services. The main goal of the Ministry of Information Society and Administration is to fulfil the standards and conditions to ensure a safe future in the European Union. Therefore, the main focus of our government is related to the activities to the digital transformation of public sector and modernization,” Minister Aliu said.
