Skopje. 20 September 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski at a Wednesday press conference announced the formation of a young farmers association following the example of the Slovenian Rural Youth Association, with young farmers from North Macedonia visiting Slovenia in October to learn from their experience.

"We are in the process of creating a new idea, to form a young farmers association, following the example of the Slovenian Rural Youth Association that is a part of the European Council of Young Farmers, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.

"This example was our leitmotif. We want to replicate what we saw in Slovenia and motivate our young farmers to follow modern trends and easily meet European standards in the agriculture sector here," Nikolovski said.

Forming this association, he stressed, would contribute to the formation of a sub-sector group for young people that would then create policies and programs for young farmers.

"We already started realizing this idea. We are organizing a student trip for our young farmers to visit the Slovenian Rural Youth Association this October, and then we will form an association for the first time since the country's independence," Nikolovski emphasized. ssh/mr
