Xhaferi - Hajiyev: BSEC offers opportunities for deepened economic connection between Europe and Asia

Skopje, 5 March 2024 (MIA) - Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi met Tuesday with Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) Secretary General, Asaf Hajiyev.

PM Xhaferi expressed satisfaction with the continuation of the established dialogue with the PABSEC, the Government said in a press release.

Xhaferi stressed the importance of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, highlighting the benefits of North Macedonia's four-year long membership, noting that it is not only membership in the structures of the organization but an opportunity for deepened economic connection between the two continents, as well as the three regions of the Balkans, Caucasus and the Black Sea.

In that regard, he mentioned the key strategic projects that have contributed to greater connectivity and integration of the region.

Secretary General Hajiyev congratulated Xhaferi on his new post, expressing satisfaction and expectation to further continue the established dialogue.

Hajiyev said that due to its geographical location, North Macedonia is a key country for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, while the NATO membership and the ongoing integration in the EU provide a significant additional, political and security dimension that is welcome for increased economic dynamics.
