Xhaferi: Convinced we will remove prejudice against Albanians

Skopje, 4 May 2024 (MIA) - DUI-led European Front MP candidate in the sixth election district Talat Xhaferi, who is the incumbent caretaker Prime Minister, told a press conference on Saturday that he has performed his duty as PM consistently, pointing out that Albanians have potential and are ready for one PM for all.

"I am addressing you with a clear conscience, because what I promised when I assumed the responsible duty of PM, I implemented and continue to implement consistently. I worked dedicatedly and professionally. I am convinced that we will remove once and for all the prejudice and stereotypes planted in the broad mentality that Albanians can not, do not know and have no right," said Xhaferi.

He pointed out that the Government, under his leadership, although its top priority has been the holding of the regular presidential and parliamentary elections in a fair and democratic manner, has at no time stepped outside the framework of a functional and reliable institution.

"We proved that we carry the responsibility and leadership of the state in an equal way, becoming an example of maturity and mutual respect. We proved that we can govern responsibly in the entire country, under all circumstances and with all citizens. These are values that we have cherished since the country's independence, for building an equal state and society," Xhaferi said.

Asked if he was addressing the press conference as a caretaker PM or as a DUI representative, Xhaferi said he was holding the press conference as an MP candidate, also adding that one of the points in the European Front's election platform was one PM for all.

"I am the second on the MP candidate list in the sixth election district, and I am holding a press conference today as an MP candidate. After all, one of the points in the platform is a PM for all, so in that context there is no obstacle for me to be here before you today, before all the citizens," Xhaferi said.

He did not reveal which of the two presidential candidates will receive the European Front's support, saying that the answer to that question should be sought from the leadership of the European Front.
