Wilson Neto exhibition inspired by Skupi artifacts to open at Museum of Skopje.

Skopje, 16 May 2024 (MIA) — Wilson Neto's "Reverse Archeology: Homo ludens between facts and archetypes" exhibition will open Thursday at the Museum of the City of Skopje.

The exhibit was inspired by archaeological artifacts from the Roman archaeological site Skupi, which is managed by the Museum of the City of Skopje.

According to organizers, the artist has been researching artifacts — children's toys dating back to the period of antiquity — for a long time.

This exhibition includes 13 large-format canvases from his 2023 Commentary series, 32 drawings on paper from his Homo ludens series, and seven artworks inspired by the toys found at the Skupi site.

Organized by Makedonida foundation in partnership with the Museum of the City of Skopje, the art show was curated by Macedonian-French curator Gordana Velkov and Brazilian-German curator Aldonso Palacio.

The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the German Embassy in Skopje and will be open through May 29. mr/
