Skopje, 6 November 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov has met with the new EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas.

Minister Ljutkov stressed that cooperation with the EU is one of the most important priorities of the Government and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He pointed out that North Macedonia invests significant efforts in the development of the country's cultural and tourist potential, especially in the protection of cultural heritage, with the EU's support in this process being of key importance for the further growth of the economy and the country's international promotion.

In that context, interlocutors exchanged opinions and views on promoting cooperation in the field of culture and tourism, discussing the possibilities to further strengthen the partnership with the EU in these two key sectors, the Ministry of Culture said in a press release.

Talks also tackled ways and opportunities for using European funds for projects that will improve the cultural and tourism capacities of the country through various initiatives in these areas.

Ambassador Rokas noted that cooperation and support in the implementation of projects, such as the reconstruction of the central Post Office building, which should grow into a multifunctional centre, as well as the "Skopje - European Capital of Culture in 2028" event, will contribute to further strengthen relations between North Macedonia and the European Union.

Minister Ljutkov wished the EU Ambassador a successful diplomatic mission, expressing expectation that during his term in office, friendly relations and cooperation in the field of culture and tourism with the European Union will continue to further strengthen and deepen.
