Skopje, 8 August 2024 (MIA) - Several firefighting vehicles are battling a blaze burning at the Vardarishte landfill in Skopje, said the Crisis Management Center (CMC). 

"The Skopje Regional Crisis Management Center reports that in relation to the Vardarishte landfill, the municipal inspection from the City of Skopje has informed them that they are on the ground, along with the police and several firefighting vehicles battling the blaze, but there are still flames," CMC said. 

The Vardarishte landfill is under the jurisdiction of the City of Skopje, and is located on the territory of the Municipality of Gazi Baba. The smoke from the fire can be felt not only in Gazi Baba but also in the neighbouring municipality of Aerodrom.
