US designates Macedonian company

Skopje, 6 March 2024 (MIA) - North Macedonia-based company "Cytrox AD", along with four other entities and two individuals, has been designated by the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) due to their role in the development of the "Predator" spyware.

The other sanctioned entities are Greek company "Intellexa S.A.", Irish "Intellexa Limited" and "Thalestris Limited", and Hungarian "Cytrox Holdings ZRT", as well as "Intellexa Consortium" founder Tal Jonathan Dilian, and Sara Aleksandra Fayssal Hamou, a corporate off-shoring specialist who has provided managerial services to the Intellexa Consortium.

All entities were associated with the Intellexa Consortium in developing, operating, and distributing commercial spyware technology used to target Americans, including U.S. government officials, journalists, and policy experts, says OFAC.

Cytrox AD, which acts as a developer of the consortium’s Predator spyware, was added to the Department of Commerce Entity List on July 18, 2023, for trafficking in cyber exploits used to gain access to information systems, threatening the privacy and security of individuals and organizations worldwide.
